TAV Macedonia: Our successful partnership with Wizz Air has brought their 15 millionth passenger to the country
TAV Macedonia and Wizz Air, today, July 3, 2025, at 12:00, with the arriving flight from Dortmund, jointly welcomed the 15 millionth passenger of this low-cost airline in the country, since their entry into the market in 2011.
As a sign of gratitude for passenger’s loyalty, TAV Macedonia gave the passenger a gift including travel accessories, and Wizz Air awarded him/her a value voucher for flight tickets to a destination of his/her choice.
“In the year when we celebrate our 15th anniversary on the market, today we gifted the 15 millionth passenger of Wizz Air, confirming and celebrating our 14-year fruitful partnership with this air carrier, that flies to a total of 30 destinations and 12 countries from Skopje International Airport and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport. Together with Wizz Air and the Government, we continue to work jointly to expand the airline network from the two Macedonian airports, making Europe and the world closer for both Macedonian citizens and citizens from the surrounding countries,” stated Nejat Kurt, TAV Macedonia General Manager.
TAV Macedonia, a subsidiary of TAV Airports, which is a member of the French Groupe ADP (Aeroports de Paris), began its partnership with the low-cost Hungarian airline, Wizz Air, in June 2011, with the first flight from Skopje International Airport to London - Luton Airport.
In July 2015, Wizz Air also started flights from Ohrid Airport, with a flight from Ohrid to Basel.
Wizz Air today has a base of five aircraft at Skopje International Airport and serves 30 destinations to 12 countries to and from our country, with a market share of over 46%, making it the largest airline on the Macedonian market.

In 2024, Wizz Air transported 1,8 million passengers through the two Macedonian airports, Skopje International Airport and St. Paul the Apostle Airport Ohrid, and according to the number of passengers, the most frequent Wizz Air routes are from Skopje to Mulhouse, Dortmund, Memmingen and Berlin.
TAV Macedonia and Wizz Air continue to work in partnership, developing the airline network from Skopje and Ohrid airports, increasing the number and the offer of destinations according to passengers demands, with the aim of greater accessibility to Europe and the world for Macedonian citizens, as well as for citizens of neighboring countries.
